Food $ense Youth Program

Designed for third and fourth graders, this exciting 9-week series of 1-hour classroom presentations combines nutrition education, hands-on activities, and food experiences! Students discover how and why to choose healthy foods, be physically active and wash their hands before touching food. The classroom teacher strengthens the instruction by continuing to reinforce the information throughout the school year. Essential Academic Learning Requirements (EALRs) were used as guidelines in developing the curriculum, to ensure that the time spent in the classroom is aligned with the objectives of the Washington State Commission on Student Learning.

This Food $ense program is provided at no charge to schools within Skagit County in which 50% or more of the students qualify for free or reduced lunch. If you are as interested in what goes in to students’ bodies as well as what goes in to their brains, give us a call now. We are currently scheduling the program for the 2007-2008 school year.
